Alberto Alvarez, based in the Middle East, has over 25 years’ experience helping leading financial institutions, institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, and governments on a broad range of topics including strategy, organisation, and risk management. He has served clients in North and Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

His recent client work includes developing country-wide sector reform programmes and industrialisation strategies for high-growth economies. He has designed and implemented treasury and debt-management offices, public debt policies, and a governance framework for state-owned enterprises.

Alberto has also helped several leading financial institutions develop corporate and business-unit strategies, as well as new organisational and operating models. He has helped universal banks optimise asset- and liability-management organisations and treasuries, as well as decision-making processes and modelling tools.

Further experience includes executing company-wide and project-portfolio restructuring programmes for real-estate and infrastructure players and conducting sector scans, developing strategies and undertaking commercial due diligence for global institutional investors.

Alberto is a frequent speaker and panellist on treasury- and balance-sheet management issues at key forums and conferences worldwide, including Bancon, Euromoney conference series, FICCI-IBA conferences, GCC Regulators Summit, Institute of International Finance risk-management series, and Latin American Treasury Forum.
