Brendan is the local managing partner of McKinsey’s Cleveland office. Since joining McKinsey in 1997, he has largely focused on healthcare, economic competitiveness, and personal and organizational leadership and transformation.
Brendan is a leader in McKinsey’s global Healthcare Practice and serves leading healthcare institutions such as national provider chains and regional health systems, academic medical centers, medical supplies and pharmaceutical distributors, and device manufacturers both in the United States and internationally. He has also led efforts with US states and local governments to improve population health and create sustainable healthcare delivery systems. For example, he has worked with the Ohio Business Roundtable and State of Ohio to develop a comprehensive set of health reform themes and initiatives, based on an extensive fact base and facilitation across the state. He has also supported state-led efforts in multipayor payment innovation to accelerate health delivery innovation and simultaneously improve healthcare cost, quality, and consumer experience.
In addition to client service, Brendan has served on multiple leadership development committees and roles within McKinsey, authored multiple articles, and spoken extensively to executives and boards.
Prior to McKinsey, Brendan served for six years in the United States Air Force. He played an active role in intelligence operations during the Gulf War, and led the Air Force’s sensitive operations for the Asia-Pacific. After resigning his commission as captain in 1993, he consulted for the United States Intelligence Community until 1995 on issues ranging from the intelligence community’s strategy against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction to the development of electronic warfare.
