Advises clients globally on indirect procurement issues, including procurement capability building, advanced sourcing methodologies, demand management, contracts, and procurement policy optimization

Britta has deep indirect procurement-spend experience and has served more than 50 clients worldwide on strategic-sourcing issues. Her work on indirect procurement transformations crosses a range of industries, including retail, consumer packaged goods, financial services, and global energy and materials.

As the lead for McKinsey’s indirect-spend work within the North America procurement group, Britta manages the Indirect Index benchmarking tool globally. She founded both the Policy 360 and the Rapid Procurement Contract Insights tools. With an interest in helping clients develop procurement capabilities, she helped create procurement-specific training modules for the McKinsey Academy and has facilitated more than 200 hours of client trainings.

Britta’s expertise in indirect-services categories is extensive, with special focus on facilities and maintenance, temporary labor, professional services, packaging, travel, and HR services.

Examples of her recent client work include:

  • leading the sourcing team for temporary labor at a major insurance client, including clean sheet–based request for proposal design and clean sheet–based negotiations
  • driving indirect-spend optimization for a leading US retailer by redesigning contract terms and conditions, reviewing vendor contracts, and coaching a cross-functional client team on improvement opportunities
  • directing advanced sourcing and design-to-value work for a leading US department chain’s e-commerce-packaging and key facilities- and maintenance-services categories
  • leading procurement-diagnostic assessments across key indirect categories in a variety of premerger and merger situations for clients
  • supporting a total facility-management sourcing transformation and outsourcing effort across 15 major facility-management-spend categories and more than 40 countries for a large, multinational bank
