A physician by background, Chris has extensive knowledge and experience in healthcare. He co-leads McKinsey's Life Sciences Practice globally. Prior to this he led the firm’s digital and artificial intelligence (AI) work in healthcare and life sciences, having previously led the Medical Products Practice.
Since joining in 2004, Chris has partnered with executives and leaders across the healthcare sector—working with health systems, payors, providers, biopharma companies, medical device manufacturers, and private equity. His work focuses on transforming company performance, including reshaping strategy, digital transformation, application of AI, defining and implementing novel commercial approaches, refining the operating model, transforming the cost base, improving product development, and finding new sources of growth.
An occasional advisor to national governments, Chris also helps guide large-scale public investments in the life sciences. He has worked with world leaders on topics ranging from neurotechnology to developing life-science strategies in order to attract investments and boost employment in those sectors. He is a frequent speaker at industry association meetings and conferences.
Before McKinsey, Chris worked as a physician in the UK National Health Service and taught at Imperial College, London.
