Clay brings nearly 20 years of experience in corporate finance and investing, advising clients on their investment theses and leading complex due-diligence efforts. In addition, Clay works closely with executives in the life sciences sector to develop their growth strategies and drive their value creation agendas.
Clay is also a leader in McKinsey’s Life Sciences Practice, working with companies on a range of growth and value creation initiatives, including omnichannel transformation and corporate strategy. He has served a range of clients from medical device manufacturers to innovative biopharma companies and service providers through contract manufacturing and research organizations.
Examples of his recent client work include the following:
- advising a large private equity company on its investment thesis in healthcare and leading subsequent due diligences on several potential targets across the market landscape
- supporting a global medical device company on the due diligence and postmerger integration of its largest acquisition to date, supporting all business units, functions, and regions on implementation
- advising a global pharmaceutical company on its omnichannel strategy, deploying advanced analytics to improve commercial effectiveness
- leading strategy development and go-to-market model design for a high-growth pharmaceutical services provider
In addition to his work at McKinsey, Clay is a competitive sailor. He has won multiple world championships in the Etchells and team-racing disciplines and was a 2007 nominee for the US Sailing Yachtsman of the Year.
