As the global leader of McKinsey’s apparel, fashion and luxury sector, Gemma partners with companies and their executives on holistic transformations to accelerate sustainable growth and create lasting change in performance and health.

Bringing over two decades of consulting expertise across the United States, the Middle East, and Europe, she advises clients on growth strategies, customer experience, commercial topics, advanced analytics and digital transformations, as well as capability-building at scale. Gemma is passionate about fostering leadership growth, enhancing customer experience, and driving innovation.

As one of the global leaders in CEO Excellence Practice, Gemma works closely in with CEOs and their organizations on their leadership journey, as well as with family-owned businesses to ensure they are “fit for purpose” in terms of operating model, capabilities, and leadership skills.

Examples of Gemma’s recent work includes:

  • driving a holistic performance and health transformation for a leading beauty company in Europe
  • leading the customer experience and commercial growth transformation to help drive deeper customer insights, engagement, and experience at a leading luxury corporation
  • supporting a performance acceleration program at a leading retail organization in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA)
  • backing a holistic digital and advanced analytics transformation with a prominent B2C conglomerate across the grocery, retail, luxury shopping malls, and leisure and entertainment industries
  • defining a lifestyle ecosystem strategy and supporting its implementation for a leading retail group in EMEA
  • establishing a corporate academy for a private-sector conglomerate encompassing a school of leadership, analytics and technology, and customer experience
  • transforming the operating model and culture of a prominent family-owned business, from passive investor to a strategic architect of a number of businesses

Gemma regularly publishes knowledge and insights relevant to the retail, fashion, and luxury sectors, and coauthors McKinsey’s annual State of Fashion report, published in collaboration with Business of Fashion, as well as the annual Sporting Goods Industry report.

Before joining McKinsey, she worked in the investment banking division of J.P. Morgan in London. Her curiosity has led her to live and work in different parts of the world (from Europe to the USA and the Middle East) and she now lives in Milan with her husband and four children. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and is an avid fitness enthusiast.
