An economist by background, Karsten has 20 years of knowledge and experience in Life Sciences. He leads McKinsey's Medical Products work in Europe, the Life Sciences Practice in the Nordics and is Global Leader of Risk in McKinsey’s Life Sciences Practice. Prior to this, he led the firm’s transformation and restructuring work in the Nordics and across Life Sciences in Europe.

Since joining in 2004, Karsten has partnered with executives and leaders across the pharma- and medtech sectors —working with medical device manufacturers, biopharma companies, and private equity investing across the space. His work focuses on transforming company performance, including turnarounds. Karsten has broad experience from helping companies reshape strategy, grow sales, transform their cost base, improve product development, and drive M&A, including more than 50 due diligences over the years.

An occasional advisor to providers in the broader healthcare space, Karsten also helps guide large-scale public investments in healthcare.

Karsten is a member of the board of the Swedish non-for-profit Brain Foundation (Hjärnfonden) and is a frequent speaker at industry association meetings and conferences.
