Ling has been a leader at McKinsey Digital for more than ten years. He helps businesses in a wide range of industries become digital organizations by modernizing the entire IT value chain—from product development to operations and support.
As the co-leader of our Agile and DevOps Practice groups at McKinsey Digital Labs, Ling devotes time and energy to deepening our advisory expertise. He has built a team of top agile coaches, full-stack architects, and DevOps engineers. Continually pushing the boundaries, clients capture full business value from cutting-edge software-development methodologies, next-generation technologies, and flexible, scalable IT organizations set up for digital.
Ling helps executives build the culture, technologies, and capabilities required to deploy digital products and services to market quickly and reliably. The goal of these endeavors is to greatly increase speed to market—enabling fully automated continuous-delivery pipelines that can cut software release times from weeks to minutes—while significantly reducing costs.
For example, Ling recently helped transform an international travel company from a brick-and-mortar business to a digital one. By modernizing its flagship online platform, reimagining the customer experience, and implementing a fully automated continuous-delivery pipeline, the company improved conversion rates by 50 percent and time to market by 75 percent. In general, agile transformations help large organizations achieve 25 to 50 percent productivity gains in their software-development delivery.
Ling has a passion for sharing what he knows. He has tutored low-income students in China on their English language skills, advised nonprofits on the fundamentals of agile, and led hacking events for coding schools.
