Ruben leads the Technology, Media & Telecommunications Practice in Europe, where he advises clients on strategy; transformation; and technology, digital, and AI. Next to his work in telecom, media, and software companies, Ruben has also led digital and AI transformations for adjacent industries such as consumer, retail, insurance, and financial services.

Previously, Ruben led McKinsey Digital in several regions, including the UK, Ireland, and Israel, Benelux, and Scandinavia. Ruben’s recent client work includes the following:

  • value creation planning and implementation for a software company
  • group strategy and investor perspectives for a multicountry telecom operator
  • designing and implementing a full IT transformation (architecture sourcing, agile, software development, and IT operations)
  • building a digital strategy for a media company
  • implementing multiyear fiber transformation across deployment, go to market, and joint venture constructs
  • executing a telco’s end-to-end customer journey transformation across fixed, mobile, B2C, and B2B
  • doubling online sales with advanced digital marketing
  • developing and implementing an enterprise-wide agile for multiple telecom operators, as well as several banks
  • building a 24/7 digital wholesaler-trading platform as a new business
  • setting up a digital factory for a retail bank, digitizing all customer journeys in 18 months

Ruben holds a master’s in general management from Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School and a master’s in computer science engineering from Ghent University.
