Leads McKinsey's European consumer and retail sectors with a focus on consumer goods, apparel, fashion and luxury, and commercial real-estate activities

Sandrine is a leader of McKinsey's European consumer and retail sectors. For more than 25 years, she has served clients in consumer goods, retail, apparel, fashion and luxury, and commercial real estate. She is also a member of the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) Council, which advises on MGI’s business, economic, and technology research agenda and publications. With the latter, she leverages her deep expertise on trends such as the impact of urbanization and technology on the evolution of global consumers and diversity issues.

Her expertise includes merchandising—especially assortment and pricing, and category management—as well as organization and operations, particularly lean retailing, end-to-end supply-chain management, and sourcing. She also works with leading mall developers, owners, and investors in the Americas, China, Europe, and the Middle East.

Recent examples of Sandrine’s work include turnaround programs for a leading international multi-format food retailer in France, for a leading national health and beauty retailer, and for a top European high-street apparel retailer. Each of these programs required intense focus on organizational issues, both at the corporate center and across all functions.

Sandrine has helped a number of retail clients streamline their supply chains to capture efficiency gains, including global sourcing. In one case, she led an end-to-end supply chain reconfiguration for an apparel retailer that contributed to a 60 percent profit increase. To safeguard long-term impact for her clients, Sandrine also engages in capability-building efforts in these areas.

Sandrine contributes to several initiatives aimed at identifying and developing the leaders of the future. For example, she is a member of the jury of the Grand Prix Unibail-Rodamco of the Jeunes Créateurs du Commerce (Young Business Creators)—a competition aimed at stimulating, developing, and supporting innovation in business—and contributes every year to the Cartier Awards for women entrepreneurs.

Sandrine is the global leader of McKinsey’s Women Matter research program, which she initiated 10 years ago, having published widely on the role of women in business since then. She is an international board member of the Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society, and is a speaker or active member within a number of international conferences on the subject. She is also a global leader of McKinsey’s internal Women Initiative, dedicated to developing women as leaders.
