Based in the Lyon office, Stéphane Bout is one of the leaders of McKinsey’s Business Technology Practice in France.
Specializing in the optimization of information systems, he supports industrial and retailing companies in their digital transformation. This includes: minimizing the operating costs of legacy systems to fund the new digital capabilities, adapting the Business–IT interface and deploying Lean and Agile practices to accelerate projects, pushing forward the IT architecture in order to meet omnichannel requirements, and capitalizing on new opportunities offered by a smart use of data (“Big Data”).
Stéphane Bout honed his skills in information systems optimization and digital transformation as a Chief Information Officer, first at Altadis for four years, followed by six years at Casino.
At Casino, he contributed to the transformation of a traditional retail player into a “precision retailing” pioneer, notably through the setup of a multichannel information system architecture.
At Altadis, he led the information systems aspect of the post-merger program including the rationalization of the application portfolio and the technical infrastructure of the company.
Stéphane Bout began his career as a consultant with Andersen Consulting, in particular by leading transformation projects combining process re-engineering and implementation of SAP solutions, then in the French office of McKinsey, which he left in 2003, as Associate Principal.
Stéphane Bout is a graduate of Ecole Centrale de Lyon.
