Tobias advises global automotive OEMs, truck OEMs, their suppliers, and mobility companies on technology disruptions and the shift towards lifecycle products and services. This can include car-data monetization and connected cars. He co-leads connectivity at the McKinsey Center for Future Mobility and leads the Mobility Experience and Technology Lab together with the Fraunhofer Institute to research changes of future mobility experience in the interior.

Recent examples of his work include the following:

  • conducting a car-data monetization strategy and business build for an automotive OEM
  • developing the overall research and development target picture for an automotive OEM
  • developing a lifecycle-services strategy for a commercial vehicle OEM
  • developing an electronic and software strategy for an automotive supplier derived from OEM's future architecture
  • developing a connected data strategy for a mobility service provider
  • supporting the due diligence on a Tier-1 supplier related to connected service and data monetization
  • conducting a future-of-interior strategy study for an automotive supplier
  • conducting a growth strategy study for a tolling and IT company
