Vikas is a senior partner in McKinsey’s Delhi office. He plays an active part in initiatives to grow India’s pharmaceutical sector, contributing to knowledge creation and policy development. He speaks frequently at key industry forums, including the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA), and the Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI). Since joining McKinsey in 2000, Vikas has worked in India, China, Japan, Russia, Brazil, Middle East, North America, United Kingdom, Germany, and Southeast Asia, serving clients in the pharmaceutical and medical products sector.
He has assisted Indian pharma companies in driving strong growth and building global businesses through strategic expansion and partnerships across the world. He has also helped them in multi-year operations transformation journeys including profit improvement, lean transformation, quality excellence, remediation management, shop floor culture change, and capability building. He has strong expertise in driving at scale capability building and leadership development.
On the global front, he has worked with multi-national pharmaceutical companies to build strong emerging market strategies and also shape their global sourcing and resourcing agenda. His recent work includes supporting a global pharma company on their growth strategy including business building in Greater China, Japan, Korea, southeast Asia, Middle East, and Latin America. He has helped shape global resourcing journeys including partner evaluation and selection, setting up the local organisation, governance framework, and risk-mitigation. He has also supported India sourcing engagements (APIs, intermediates, and formulations) for international pharma companies, distributors, and retailers.
