We are deeply convinced that it is essential to rigorously pursue decarbonization while also strengthening innovation, sustainable, economic growth, and international competitiveness. The scaling up of climate technologies must significantly accelerate in the coming months and years, and leaders of organizations across sectors face the same challenges: Should they prioritize green transformation or pursue growth? We are convinced they can do both.
Net-zero emissions and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy
We work with leaders to identify key actions that will help get closer to net-zero emissions, helping solve for all key variables in the sustainability equation—carbon emissions, financial performance, capital investment, and societal impact. We diagnose current sustainability levels, establish quantitative baselines, define clear aspirations, and design actionable sustainability plans.
Green business building
We work with ambitious entrepreneurs and innovators in companies to help leaders and teams define and realize the full potential of new ideas for green businesses. Our aim is to launch and scale up sustainable enterprises to support the net-zero target, coach future market leaders in sustainability, and create shareholder value by increasing global GDP.
Decarbonization transformation
We support both new and established companies design and implement operational changes based on sustainability. Success requires complex tradeoffs that span product design, supply chains, industrial processes, distribution networks, circularity, and technology innovation. We navigate these decisions with our clients and identify decarbonization opportunities that make sense both environmentally and financially to deliver improvements that last.
Net-zero financial institutions
We work closely with asset managers, banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions to build portfolios that look to the future. To strengthen our capabilities, McKinsey recently acquired Vivid Economics, a recognized leader in climate and sustainability economics which has the proven ability to help customers accelerate the path to net zero.
Sustainable investing
Institutional investors are increasingly committed to sustainability as the main driver of financial value, and a growing number are launching climate-dedicated funds. We work closely with private-equity firms and investors to help develop investment strategies, identify and assess the most promising carbon-reduction opportunities, and promote the success and growth of sustainable portfolio companies.
